Want to create a Stone Wall?

My visits to Rajasthan were filled with such sights, such walls erected around schools and government offices and buildings. It’s easy to spot them even now whenever you visit places in Rajasthan and your eyes are open for architectural discoveries.

Pardon the quality of the picture above but you get the idea, I hope.

These walls can stand forever if the pieces of stone are bound well. They barely need any upkeep or maintenance efforts. And lend the project such a character.

The thing about showing such walls is that you need to photograph them from a fair distance, which is often not possible. They feel amazing in actual anyway.

Here’s what we can offer in case you desire to create a wall like that.

What kind of walls have you planned for your project? Do not let them be painted and bland. There are better ways to erect walls.

We cannot manufacture natural patterns

It is impossible.

You can’t print the endless, you can’t print the beauty of the endless quirks.

And that is why, irrespective of the price we put on stone and pay, stone is arguably the most precious thing available for our experiences and spaces and movements.

Vitrified Tile is an abomination in the name of creating spaces for our living and for our experiences. Sure it costs much cheaper than most natural stone but the story typically stops at just that. Over a life time, you can’t fall in love with the vitrified. It will glaze and gloss and you won’t understand what’s really the loss!

Check this picture of Mint Stone piece for modular elevation design.

These modular wall elevation patterns can be done in many ways and many combinations. For your project, remember to call us and we may be able to contribute.

Basalt Clad on Bungalow Walls

Received this picture of work-in-progress at a bungalow in Jamnagar. Black Basalt for wall-cladding!

Would be interesting to see how it looks when all the work’s done.

Have you used black basalt stone in any of your projects? What’s been your experience?

8 more options to texture your walls

If you don’t like blank interior walls, you have a few options to do them up:

  1. Textured Wall Paint
  2. Mural
  3. Framed Painting
  4. K. K. Stones’ Natural Stone Decor Panels
  5. Funny shiny backlit translucent Italian or some other marble

Thank God, there’s no vitrified tiles for such walls. Well, bathroom walls are done up with vitrified tiles these days. Limit them to bathrooms, please. So far so good.

For blank exterior walls, what do you have? If the walls are under a shade, all of the above may work. But if the walls are exposed to all kinds of elements, these handcrafted stone decor options may feel good.

Like them?

Work in Progress

For some reason, often, I find such sights of work-in-progress more enchanting.

The great thing about these handcrafted natural stone mosaics is a sense of repetition but with subtle variations. Exact repetitions, as happens in printed vitrified tiles, are recognized instantaneously and are often quite jarring to the eyes.

Tetris-like?

Lovely hues of natural white stone. Arranged on walls this way, to me it almost feels Tetris-like.

Granite Rock Face Panels

Indoors or outdoors, do up your walls with rock-face granite. Now this is in one color. And it looks right. You may mix a few granite colors of your choice. Couple of examples below.

I tell you rock-face looks and feels much better than glossy glass-face granite. It is decorative without feeling decorative!
